Both Parties Discover the NDIS Has Providers — After Fifty Billion Dollars

Health Minister Mark Butler will outline Labor's plan to slow NDIS cost growth, with the Coalition signalling support for a crackdown on providers of the $50 billion scheme.

Fifty billion dollars and bipartisan agreement — in Canberra, that combination only appears when both sides have worked out who to blame that isn't them. Cracking down on dodgy providers is the political equivalent of arresting the shoplifter while the department store burns down. The scheme's cost blew out because nobody in either party had the ticker to design it properly the first time, and now Butler's giving a keynote about savings like a bloke who maxed out the credit card announcing he's switching to homebrand milk.
